Introduction

When done properly, direct resin bonding is truly the most creative dental treatment that today’s dentist can render. For many, however, there may be problems that make direct bonding difficult with results being both unpredictable and often unsatisfactory.

There are easy solutions to the problems that most dentists have in doing esthetic bonding. Any dentist who has the desire can easily achieve beautiful, esthetic, lifelike and physiologic results through direct bonding.

The first consideration necessary to obtain excellent results is understanding when, how, and where bonding materials should be used and what results can be expected from their use.

This presentation will concern itself with a brief discussion of the different materials available and how and why he selects and uses them. Next, the value of opaquing and tinting to augment composite material selection and application will be emphasized. His methods for color modification will be described, and lastly the need for proper contouring, finishing and polishing and the way in which he achieves this will be demonstrated.

Achieving realistic color modification with direct composite resin techniques and materials is probably bonding’s most difficult problem. This presentation will illustrate precise guidelines for achieving the natural life-like appearance of tooth structure.

The methods and materials necessary for achieving the multichromaticity, translucency, and opacity found in the human dentition will be presented and thoroughly described. Techniques for creating maverick colors, white spots, diffuse hypoplasia, and craze and check lines will be shown.

Because color development continues to remain the dentist’s primary concern in bonding procedures, other features are often overlooked or underemphasized. However, this program places great emphasis on all aspects of the art form of bonding. The morphology of anterior tooth form, contour and characterization will be thoroughly discussed and demonstrated. Proper application, sculpting, and finishing and polishing techniques will be described and shown in detail in order to enhance this realism. Proper maintenance of bonded restorations will be discussed and demonstrated. The achievement of esthetic and biologic results through minimally invasive dentistry will be shown.

"We are just in the infancy period of esthetic dentistry by the artistic dentist, and we all should become familiar with it. It truly makes dentistry more rewarding and enjoyable for both the patient and the dentist. It certainly has changed my life." This is Bud’s profound feeling and what he hopes to demonstrate to all.

The all day presentation is packed full of how to’s and he keeps no secrets. The PowerPoint Program accurately tells the story in stepwise sequences.

Learn how to:

  1. Use the materials available today to their best advantages. These materials include, Mycrofills, Hybrids, and Nanofills.
  2. Make Class III, IV and V restorations totally "invisible"
  3. Close diastemas
  4. Make direct composite veneers look like the real thing and not just a plastic overlay.
  5. Create esthetic restorative orthodontic corrections.
  6. Restore mutilated dentitions.
  7. Use opaquers and tints to scatter and block light, change color, create opacity and translucency and increase and decrease value.
  8. Contour, characterize, and finish final restorations in order to make them believable and compatible with the soft tissue.
  9. Properly polish restorations to acquire a long lasting, easily maintainable enamel-like luster.
  10. Create the most lifelike, esthetic, and truly believable restorations possible.
  11. Make invisible repairs of all kinds on resin, porcelain or metal.
  12. Accurately diagnose esthetic needs.
  13. Learn a philosophy of practice and communication that allows the patient to understand and easily accept proposed treatment plans.
  14. Come to this course and learn all this and more, especially how to replace the physical tedium of dentistry with tremendous joy. It may change your attitude toward your professional dental experience.

Once you grasp the concepts and meaning of this presentation you will be surprised how your creative juices will start to flow. You can truly become the dentist-artist and the "fear” of bonding will change to the "joy” of bonding. When done properly, creative bonding can literally change your life as well as your patient’s life. The total result will overwhelm you.
